Government to Launch 100 Rupee coin soon, here how it will look like

The central government is ready to bring coins of 100 rupees for the first time in the country. The coin of Rs 100 will be launched in two formats, which will be called 'Dr. M.S. Coming with the marks of Subbulakshmi and the other is Dr. M.G. Ramachandran 'birth centenary.


According to the news agency ANI, The coin of 100 rupees will be brought in memory of MG Ramachandran's birth centenary. The news agency PTI said that coins of Rs 100, 10 rupees and 5 rupees will also be issued by the government. According to the report, the picture of MGR in coins will be in the middle of the center and in the perimeter along with the 'Birth centenary of Dr  Ramachandran'. It will also be marked in the upper perimeter of Devanagari script.



This coin will have Ashoka pillar along with the "Satyamev Jayate" written in the center. 100 rupees coin weighing 35 grams and a coin of 5 rupees will be 6 grams, and a new coin of 10 rupees will be 7.7 grams.

Government of India, in a notification said-

"The ministry in exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government, has decided to coined Rs 100 – which are presently distributed in notes form, and introduce Rs 10 and Rs 5 coins with new features at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of Birth Centenary of Dr. M. S. Subbulakshmi and Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Birth Centenary."
