Ram Nath Kovind, the candidate form BJP, defeated the Opposition's candidate Meira Kumar,
Candidate Ram Nath Kovind has been elected the country's 14th president, he will be the second Dalit leader after RK Narayanan since Independence.
RAM NATH KOVIND won by 65 per cent of vote,according to some source RAM nath Kovind will take oath as the 14th President of India on July 25, PM Narendra Modi congratulated Ram Nath Kovind for winning the presidential election, PM Modi tweeted "Congratulations to Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji on being elected the President of India! Best wishes for a fruitful & inspiring tenure''

He was the Govorner of bihar from 2015 to 2017 He had also served as the Member of Parliament, Rajya sabha from 1994 to 2006, Ram nath kovind was born in UP kanpur and a graduate from he has done LLB from DAV college,Mr Kovind was Central Government Advocate in the Delhi High Court from 1977 to 1979, and served as a Central Government standing counsel in the Supreme Court from 1980 to 1993. In 1978, he joined BJP in the year 1991, Ram nath kovind was President of the BJP dalit Morcha between 1998 and 2002 and President of the All-India Koli Samaj,-He has served on the Board of management of Dr B.R Ambedkar university Lucknow and as on the Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta. He has also represented India at the UN and addressed the United Nations General Assembly in October 2002.
